Monogram Smith River Sports Complex hosts more than 100,000 in 2025

AXTON, VA – The Monogram Foods Smith River Sports Complex was able to welcome more than 100,000 people as part of an exceptional 2025 calendar year full of sports, entertainment, and economic impact.

Throughout the calendar year just over 31,500 of those 100,000 came from outside Martinsville-Henry County. The out-of-town visitors also helped contribute to the 48 (92%) weekends with activity in 2025.

The Sports Complex was bustling with guests and activities on 281 days in 2025, which accounts for 77 percent of the year. The activities included 13 different sports as well as parties, weddings, car shows, festivals, church services and community organization fundraisers. The most popular sports played included soccer, football, ultimate frisbee, lacrosse, cross-country and golf at the driving range.

“It’s been a very busy year for us here at the Complex, but we wouldn’t want it any other way” said Houston Stutz, SRSC Director of Operations. “We’re very thankful for everyone who has visited with us and enjoyed our facility.”

Throughout 2025, MFSRSC hosted visitors from 19 different states plus the District of Columbia, as well as 10 different countries. The 356 teams that participated in tournaments at the complex drove a total of 54,682 miles, which is more than two full trips around the Earth at the equator. Each team averaged 154 miles per trip to the complex. In terms of time, the drive to the complex for the 356 teams equaled 931 hours and 49 minutes, which is equivalent to almost 39 days and an average of 2 hours and 37 minutes.

“It’s exciting to see how far people drive to visit our facility,” Stutz said. “It shows how much of an economic driver the sports complex is for Martinsville-Henry County.”

“We have very high expectations for an even better year in 2026 with all tournaments from last year renewing their dates for the upcoming year,” Stutz said. “Plus, our goal is to fill more days and every weekend with something for our community and guests to enjoy.”
