Carlisle School's field hockey program moved to the Smith River Sports Complex in the summer/fall of 2010. Since then, all Carlisle Field Hockey games and practices are held here at the Complex. These girls, led by head coach Meade Seiy, put everything they have into this game and this facility gives them the extra push to do their best. The FieldTurf Synthetic fields offer a smoother surface for optimal play. Prior to moving to the Complex, field hockey games ran the risk of ending early due to lack of lighting in the autumn months. However, both FieldTurf Synthetic fields have Musco Sports Lighting allowing all games to continue despite darkening skies.
The program has a strong tradition of excellence. In the past few years, the hockey program has had a stronghold in the Blue Ridge Conference, winning many conference titles: 1998, 1990, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2006-2011. Carlisle Field Hockey has also had tremendous success on the state level, winning state titles in 2004 and carried an undefeated season with the State Championship in 2009. Within the past seven years, Carlisle has made it to the VISAA DII state semi-finals. The program has had many athletes to win awards on the conference level as well as the state level. Also, many girls have gone on to high level collegiate programs within the last seven years; University of Virginia, Appalachian State University, Lynchburg College, Christopher Newport University, University of Mary Washington, Radford University, Randolph-Macon College, and Sewanee. As always, being a part of the Carlisle community means academic priorities are just as important as athletic priorities.
The field hockey program has been built on a strong work ethic, a desire to achieve, and a belief in maintaining a tradition of excellence to continue as a championship caliber program within the state of Virginia.
