SRSC hosts Piedmont Shootout Soccer Tournament November 12-13
MARTINSVILLE, Va. - The Smith River Sports Complex and Piedmont Youth Soccer League have teamed up to host the Piedmont Shootout Youth Soccer Tournament this weekend, November 12-13. 35 teams from Virginia and North Carolina will be traveling to Martinsville to participate in the event.
"This tournament is one of our busiest and exciting weekends of the year," SRSC Director of Marketing Houston Stutz said. "It's a great opportunity to showcase our fantastic youth talent in the area as well as our world-class facility and community."
The Piedmont Shootout is now in its eighth year and will have 35 youth soccer teams playing in 2016. Of the 35 teams participating, nine teams with a combined 130 kids will be representing Martinsville-Henry County as the PYSL Hurricanes. The other 26 teams will be visiting from all over the states of Virginia and North Carolina.
"It's great to be in our eighth year holding this event for the club, city and region," Enda Crehan, PYSL's director of coaching, said. "It's always great for our teams to be able to play in our own backyard so families can see them play. It's also a great way to finish out a great fall of soccer."
The tournament will run all day on both Saturday and Sunday. Games begin at 8 a.m. both days with Saturday's final round of games beginning around 6:30 p.m. Sunday will have championship games beginning as late as 2:30 p.m. Admission is free to the public.
